Why Scarlett Johansson’s Racy Super Bowl Ad Won’t Air

Scarlett Johansson has a sexy Super Bowl plug for Sodastream — but it won’t be airing during the big game. However, while the ad has been flagged by Fox’s censors, it’s not for its racy content. So what made the Powers That Be hit the reject button?
The spot features the sexy starlet stripping off her robe to reveal a tight LBD, as she seductively sucks a home-fizzed soda through a straw. On a scale of 1 to GoDaddy.com, it’s pretty tame, but it’s the final line of the commercial that reportedly makes the network antsy.
“Sorry, Coke and Pepsi,” Scarlett purrs — as in “sorry my oft-fantasized-about lips are shilling for Sodastream”?
The home soda fountain manufacturer’s CEO Daniel Birnbaum asserts that the network rejected the ad "because they're afraid of Coke and Pepsi," who are both typical big-time advertisers during the Super Bowl, with Pepsi sponsoring this year’s halftime show.
We think that reasoning is a little off, though, since Pepsi and Coca-Cola spent a good decade or two producing ads slamming each other in some subtle and not-so-subtle ways.
While Fox isn’t commenting on the decision, a Coca-Cola spokesperson said, "I can confirm we did not pressure Fox. Other than that, we don't comment on our competitors' efforts."
Either way, you can see the “uncensored” ad on YouTube, which saves Sodastream a few million dollars. Win win?
